QUESTION
How do you develop your plot and characters?
ANSWER
I understand the characters to be important first, because they form the base of the story. If we decide the characters first and then create the story around them, then an engaging plot can be created much more easily.
I feel that if the main characters have not been decided first, then whose story would we tell? What would the story about be?
I have experienced that the story generally revolves around a character or multiple characters and their lives or inter-relationship.
Thus keeping the characters in mind can help develop the plot much more easily.
